Teen Studio Intensives for Ages 13-18 years

Studio Intensives are a part of ArtsQuest’s Summer Art Camp. They are designed to give teen artists (ages 13-18) the opportunity to explore specific mediums and processes in greater depth in a fun and encouraging environment.

Summer Art Camp will take place at Moravian University’s South Campus, located at 346 Main St. in Bethlehem, PA 18018.

Linoleum Stamps with Gabriella Gentile

Campers will draw and carve their own stamp designs into soft linoleum blocks. This class is a quick and easy introduction to linoleum block printing, and students will be able to take home finished stamps as well as their stamped artwork.

Digital Art: ProCreate Basics with Tatiana Amadour

Learn the basics of digital art using ProCreate. Students will create and color simple designs, draw characters, and more, as they build their skills and create digital artwork on an iPad. (iPads are provided for this studio intensive.)

 

Amigurumi Crochet with Katrina Heebner

Amigurumi crochet is the Japanese art of crocheting stuffed animals and figures from yarn. You’ll learn the basics of crochet, and special techniques used in amigurumi to sculpt your three-dimensional creations.

Students will draw and carve their own design into a soft linoleum block. They will create a series of prints using their blocks, which they will have time to embellish before they take home at the end of the week.

Mosaics with Kim Hogan

Students will learn to safely handle tools and glass to create their own mosaic designs. Students will be able to work at their own pace and make multiple mosaics over the course of the weeks.

Transform everyday recycled materials into unique and engaging sculptures! Campers will go through the steps of brainstorming, planning, building, and completing a sculpture using everyday supplies.

Students will hone their observational skills as they learn to draw figures. They will practice basic and intermediate skills in anatomy and the art of figure drawing, with a special focus on portraits and facial features.

Learn how to sew by hand and how to use a sewing machine while making fun projects! You’ll learn functional and decorative sewing techniques while customizing your creations with your own designs.

Art Portfolio Prep with Beth Krumholz

Students will learn how to present their portfolios for applying to art school. This includes knowing what types of artwork to include, how to photograph, label, talk about and write about artwork.

 

Needle Felting with Katrina Heebner

Try out the creative possibilities of needle felting! You’ll learn how to create 3D and 2D artworks from wool while making your fun, fuzzy projects. This class will cover a variety of techniques to create wool art, and the different types of tools and fiber used.

Watercolor Portraits and Landscapes with Jackie Rambo

Campers will practice familiar watercolor skills and discover intermediate techniques while creating accurate watercolor portraits and atmospheric landscapes. Campers will be encouraged to challenge themselves and hone their skills in a lighthearted and engaging environment.

Discover the fundamentals of crochet in a fun and supportive environment. Students will learn to make a foundation chain, and master basic stitches like single and double crochet. They will learn to follow a simple pattern as they work to create a project of their choice, a hat or scarf. Students will leave with the confidence and skills to explore more complex crochet projects in the future.

Mural Arts with Matt Halm

This program will give students an introduction to mural art with professional muralist Matt Halm. Students will learn and participate in the process of mural making. Students will have an opportunity to paint on an actual mural that will created as part of Musikfest.

Fashion Design and Drawing with Cotty Kilbanks

Use fashion templates and create original figures to express different ideas through fashion design. This intensive will focus on drawing and illustration, though students will embellish their designs using fabric samples and Copic Markers.
