September Volunteer Spotlight

Each month the ArtsQuest Volunteer Committee votes on who should be in the “Volunteer Spotlight” for that month and I’m pleased to share with you that this September’s Nominee is Pam Bender! 

Q: What are a couple of fun facts about yourself that your fellow volunteers would be surprised to learn about you?
A:  I love to dance – ballroom and swing dancing.  My favorite dances are the Country Two-Step and Cha-Cha but the Waltz is a close second.

 I pickle peppers – jalapeno, banana, poblano, any kind.  We grow them yearly in our garden, pickle them, and give them away to anyone that loves them.  

Q: If you could pick any musical act to play at Musikfest 2025, who would you pick and why?
A:  This is hard – too many groups to pick from!!  I’ve seen a lot of classic rock groups and it’s my favorite genre.  So I would have to pick Queen (with Adam Lambert).  I was not able to see them last year when they were in the US.     
Since that’s probably unrealistic, I would have to choose a newer singer like Bruno Mars, Lewis Capaldi, or Ed Sheeran.

Q: If someone was considering volunteering for ArtsQuest, do you have any words of advice for them?
A: Join the team because you can pick activities that interest you and there are so many to choose from!!  If you prefer a more laid-back activity, the cinema attendant is nice.  If you prefer to be behind the scenes, set-up or tear-down of the festivals is good.  You can also be in the middle of the excitement!!
