January Volunteer Spotlight

Each month the ArtsQuest Volunteer Committee votes on who should be in the “Volunteer Spotlight” for that month and I’m pleased to share with you that January’s Nominees are Georgia Traupman and Marj Mainhart!

Georgia Traupman

Q: What inspired you to start volunteering here at ArtsQuest?
A: I became interested after Dale (my husband) was volunteering and talking about how nice the other volunteers were. I also found the Mission of ArtsQuest to be a worthy one to help.

Q: If you could pick any musical act to play at Musikfest 2025, who would you pick and why?
A: As far as a group I’d like to see at Musikfest — Chris Stapleton comes to mind.

Q: What are some of your favorite activities outside of volunteering at ArtsQuest
A: I have enjoyed volunteering for Historic Bethlehem Museums and Sites as well as The Bethlehem Garden Club.  Jigsaw puzzles keep me busy at home.

Marj Mainhart

Q: What is your favorite event at ArtsQuest to volunteer for?
A: I enjoy all different aspects of the various volunteer opportunities available to the ArtsQuest volunteers, so much, that l can’t pick just one!

For example, I enjoy the ability to introduce patrons to the high-quality entertainment of the Musikfest Cafe, as an usher.  The Levitt Pavilion is a fun, casual vibe and l love the spontaneity of the crowds! The festivals, like Oktoberfest and Christkindlmarkt, give my Inner Child a chance to dress the part of a German Frau or an Elf helping Santa. Even the pop-up gigs are a blast like Soccerfest for the kids, and the “food” fests, etc. Whatever it is, I’m in!

Q: If you could pick any musical act to play at Musikfest 2025, who would you pick and why?
A: I would love to hear Dave Mason play again in Bethlehem and expose the younger generations to his music. Aside from writing “Feelin’ Alright” with Traffic and “We just Disagree”,  Dave has played with so many of the classic rockers-too many to mention! He did play many years ago at Moravian’s Foy Hall during Musikfest and I was also able to see him 2 years ago at Penn’s Peak.

Q: What are some of your favorite hobbies or activities outside of ArtsQuest?
A: People may be surprised to know that l love tent camping. One morning I was awoken by a bear’s butt rubbing my tent while eating berries! You could picture me climbing out of a tent to see what the noise was, facing the bear, then climbing in reverse back into the tent! I can usually be found walking trails or cooking for an army!  I have done some large Hungarian embroidered pieces which I hope my kids will pass on to keep the culture alive.  And, as my sweatshirt says, “I am your Biggest Fan” of my 2 grandsons as I follow their midget baseball, soccer, and basketball games!
