February Volunteer Spotlight

Each month the ArtsQuest Volunteer Committee votes on who should be in the “Volunteer Spotlight” for that month and I’m pleased to share with you that February’s Nominee is Paula Haurie!

Q: What is a fun fact about yourself that your fellow volunteers would be surprised to learn about you?
A: I’ve always had a passion for learning woodworking, and retirement has finally given me the opportunity to pursue it. Taking classes at the Northampton Community Fab Lab was the perfect way to get started, and it has been an incredibly rewarding journey to bring my ideas to life through woodcraft.

Q: If you could pick ANY musical act to play at Musikfest 2025, who would you pick and why?
A: I’ve had the chance to see some incredible bands at Musikfest, like Santana, Alabama, Earth, Wind & Fire, Jethro Tull, Chicago, and many more. If I could pick two acts to see there, it would be Stevie Nicks and Electric Light Orchestra. Fleetwood Mac is my all-time favorite band, and ELO was one of the first concerts I ever went to. The memories from those shows are unforgettable!

Q: If someone was considering volunteering for ArtsQuest, do you have any words of advice for them?
A: My advice to anyone considering volunteering is simple: Just Do It!  The other volunteers and ArtsQuest staff are incredibly welcoming and truly appreciate all your contributions. Plus, it’s a blast to be part of the energy and excitement at any of the events! My personal favorite is Christkindlmarkt. Even when I didn’t live in Bethlehem (I returned in 2015), I attended every single one since it opened in 1993—except for one. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make new friends while giving back to the community.
