Bethlehem Area Public Library - Cohen Room and Laros Room

Wednesdays, February 12-26 | 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Gain confidence and knowledge in watercolor painting with this three-week course! During this class, students will explore basic watercolor painting techniques to learn how to create realistic and vibrant paintings. Insight into how each color reacts with one another will be explored, along with ways of creating contrast, light, and depth within a painting. Students will have the opportunity to create a small watercolor painting of a nature scene or object to practice their new skills!

Rachel is a watercolor and embroidery artist living in the Lehigh Valley. She received her bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in studio art from West Chester University. She uses both watercolor and embroidery in unconventional ways, focusing on pushing the limits of each medium. Over the last five years, she was involved in a variety of shows and exhibitions throughout the Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia, including the Lehigh Valley Punk Rock Flea Market, Virtual Feminist Flea Market in Philadelphia, Ex Libris Compendium at the Banana Factory in Bethlehem, and Lehigh Valley Wicked Oddities Flea Market and Art in the Park in Allentown.

Location Information:
The Main Library is located at 11 W Church St. in Bethlehem. There is free on-street parking around the library, most with 1 or 2-hour time limits. On weekdays after 5 p.m. and all day on Saturdays, parking is available in the garage beneath the library. This class will take place in both the Cohen Room and the Laros Rooms.

To get to the Laros Room, enter the library and go to the second floor via stairs or elevator.
To get to the Cohen Room, enter the library through the main entrance and pass through the double doors. The Cohen Room is on the left, across from the circulation desk.
