August Volunteer Spotlight

Each month the ArtsQuest Volunteer Committee votes on who should be in the “Volunteer Spotlight” for that month and I’m pleased to share with you that this August’s Nominees are Karen and David Dunn! 

Q: What inspired the both of you to start volunteering at ArtsQuest?  
A: Way back in 1984, having been recently married, we discovered this new music festival held in downtown Bethlehem. After enjoying a wide variety of free music, good food, and good weather that first year, we decided to volunteer the following year. For every year after that (except for one), we have continued to enjoy volunteering at this musical, community gem.

Q: If either of you had final say and could pick any musical act to play at Musikfest 2025, who would you pick and why?
A: We’re a little older than your target audience so not real sure what groups are popular now, but we would love to have Tom Chapin come back to Musikfest. Besides appearing on his own, he now does concerts with the Chapin Family including Tom Chapin, The Harry Chapin Band, Jen Chapin, and the Chapin Sisters.

Q: What are some of your favorite activities outside of volunteering at ArtsQuest? (Either something you do together or individually as a hobby)
A: Karen enjoys reading, traveling, walking, playing pickleball, volunteering at Zoellner Arts Center, and flower gardening.
Dave also enjoys traveling, pickleball and hiking, plus volunteering at our local hospital.
