October Volunteer Spotlight

Each month the ArtsQuest Volunteer Committee votes on who should be in the “Volunteer Spotlight” for that month and I’m pleased to share with you that this Octobers nominee is Bernie Jones!  

Q: What inspired you to start volunteering here at ArtsQuest?
A:  I got involved with volunteering with ArtsQuest because I enjoyed attending Musikfest for years and eventually Oktoberfest and various events at SteelStacks. The volunteers always seem to enjoy what they were doing, and I thought when I retire, I can enjoy doing that and give back to the community at the same time. We are so fortunate to have all this entertainment right in our backyard!

Q: If you could pick any musical act to play at Musikfest 2025, who would you pick and why?
A: I would love to see the Wheeland Brothers Band perform at Musikfest. They are a Beach Rock Reggae band from California that I saw perform in Key West, Florida. It’s a fun genre that we don’t see enough of in this area and I think they would be a great addition to the Musikfest lineup.   

Q: What are some of your favorite activities outside of volunteering at ArtsQuest?
A:In addition to volunteering, I enjoy fishing, hiking and biking the many trails in our area along with my wife Marilyn and we also enjoy traveling. We also enjoy spending time with our kids and grandkids and gardening.
